Axillary Clearance

An axillary node clearance is a procedure in which lymph nodes are removed from the armpit, following the spread of cancer to these lymph nodes.

Breast Reconstruction

Mr Charalampoudis offers state of the art, safe and oncologically sound surgery for breast cancer, while also being able to complete a reconstruction of the breast during the same surgery.

Chemotherapy and biological therapy

Chemotherapy uses drugs to treat breast cancer. Although surgery remains the mainstay of treatment for breast cancer, some patients, particularly those we have involved lymph nodes or large tumours will also require chemotherapy drugs to treat the cancer more effectively.

Endocrine Therapy

In patients with oestrogen-receptor positive breast cancer, hormonal therapy (known also as endocrine treatment) has been shown to reduce the chances of the breast cancer returning.

Oncoplastic Surgery

Oncoplastic surgery is a very modern approach to breast cancer surgery. It combines plastic surgery techniques with surgery to remove a cancerous lump from the breast, all during the very same procedure.

Radiotherapy consists of special X-rays delivered to the breast after surgery for breast cancer.

Sentinel node biopsy

Sentinel node biopsy is a technique performed to detect whether a breast cancer has spread to the neighbouring lymph nodes in the armpit.

Surgery remains the mainstay of treatment for breast cancer as well as for selected benign conditions.
